The music of Atterberg, p3
Classical music for your day. [main information in part 1] Continuing our journey through Atterberg's 8th symphony, we come to the light 3rd movement. I chose the picture of the boat because the movement just feels so light and free. A lively city scape could also work. Enjoy! Kurt Atterberg - (1887-1974) Symphony 8, third movement: Molto Vivo - 5:15 performed by: SWR Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart under Ari Rasilainen label: CPO

The music of Atterberg, p1
Classical music for your day. Been busy lately, so not as many videos as I have hoped. In any case, here's one. We're going to do something a bit different this time. For the next three postings, we're going to follow the eighth symphony of Kurt Atterberg. I really like this symphony and I hope you do too. It's well done and full of rich melodies. While not the enormous architecture of Bruckner, Mahler or others around this time period, he has some wonderful things to write. His movements are smaller and a lot simpler; more folk-related. He was a Swedish composer born in Gothenburg in 1887. As for the video, instead of trying to find over 40 pictures of Sweden, I'll be selecting one picture per movement. Let's get started! From his eighth symphony op.48, here's the first movement: Largo. Kurt Atterberg (1887-1974) "Largo" - 9:03 performed by: SWR Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart under Ari Rasilainen. label: CPO

Jorge Bolet Interview (1983)
A 1983 interview of pianist Jorge Bolet by Robin Ray. Despite what the graphic says, the piece Bolet is playing at the beginning is the 12th of the "Studies on Chopin's Etudes" by Leopold Godowsky (one of Bolet's teachers).
